All-Quarter Century Team (2003)

In 2003, fans had a chance to vote on the most outstanding performers in the 25 year history of the tournament.  The following team was chosen:

  • Brian Cook |  Lincoln  | 315 votes
  • Eddy Curry |  Thornwood |  271 votes
  • Joey Range |  Galesburg |  216 votes
  • Gregg Alexander |  Lincoln |  143 votes
  • Robbie Minor |  Rock Falls |  126 votes
  • Damir Krupaliga |  Rockford Boylan  | 121 votes

Fans were given the following list of outstanding performers to choose from while voting to decide the All-Quarter Century Team:

  • Gregg Alexander – Lincoln
    Led tournament in scoring in 2000 with an average of 22.33/ppg. Three-time all-tournament team member from 1998-2000. Plays for Illinois State University.
  • Rickey Boone – Rockford Boylan
    Holds all-time record for most assists in a tournament with 45.
  • Melvin Buckley – Thornwood
    Two-time all-tournament member from 2000-01. Plays for Purdue University
  • Brian Cook – Lincoln
    Unanimous all-tournament team selection in 1998. Scored 30 points in one game. Big Ten Player of the Year at University of Illinois in 2003. Drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2003 NBA Draft.
  • Eddy Curry – Thornwood
    Led tournament in scoring in 1999 with an average of 22.0/ppg. Three-time all-tournament team member from 1998-2000. First Round Draft Pick of Chicago Bulls in 2001.
  • Dana Dunson – Bloomington
    Three-time all-tournament team member from 1976-78. MVP of tournament in 1978.
  • Carl Golston – Chicago Phillips
    Led the tournament in scoring in 1979 and 1980 with averages of 31.5/ppg and 26.0/ppg respectively. Scored 42 points in a game in 1979. Holds record for most field goals, tournament (53). Two-time tournament MVP in 1979 and 1980. Played at Loyola University.
  • Seth Hubbard – Normal U-High
    Three-time all-tournament team member from 1996-98. Played for Illinois Wesleyan University.
  • Brian Hundman – Bloomington Central Catholic
    Led tournament in scoring in 1993 with 28.0/ppg. Scored 40 points in one game in 1993.
  • Eric Johnson – Galesburg
    Two-time all-tournament member from 1981-82. MVP of tournament in 1982.
  • Ryan Knuppel – Midwest Central
    Led tournament in scoring in 1994 with an average of 27.0/ppg. Three-time all-tournament team member from 1994-96. Played at Elmhurst College.
  • Damir Krupaliga – Rockford Boylan
    Two-time all-tournament team member from 1996-97. Played at the University of Illinois.
  • Melvin McCants – Chicago Mt. Carmel
    Two-time all-tournament member from 1982-83. Played at Purdue University.
  • Robbie Minor – Rock Falls
    Two-time all-tournament member from 2001-02. Plays baseball at University of Evansville.
  • Travis Moore – Mt. Pulaski
    Holds record with 25 rebounds in one game in 1999.
  • Joey Range – Galesburg
    Led tournament in scoring in 1996 and 1997 with averages of 28.3/ppg and 26.8/ppg respectively. Holds individual records for most points (55), steals (8) and free throws (23) in a game, most points for a tournament (134) and most field goals in a tournament (53). The only four-time all-tournament team member in the history of the Classic from 1994-97. Played one year at University of Iowa.
  • Brian Randle – Peoria Notre Dame
    Three-time all-tournament team member from 2000-02. Freshman at the University of Illinois.
  • Adam Riva – LaSalle-Peru
    Scored 38 points in one game in 1996, and 36 points in one game in 1995. Two-time all-tournament team member from 1995-96. Played for Missouri Baptist College.
  • Kevin Roberson – Decatur Eisenhower
    Scored 36 points in one game in 1985. MVP of tournament in 1985. Played professional baseball for the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets.
  • Mike Robinson – Peoria Richwoods
    Scored 42 points in a game in 1993. Holds record for most field goals in a game (18). Played for Purdue University.
  • Mike Saunches – Argenta-Oreana
    Two-time all-tournament team member in 1996 and 97. Played baseball at Illinois State University.
  • Jim Shikenjanski – Rockton Hononegah
    Led tournament in scoring in 1985 with an average of 32.75/ppg. Holds record with 66 rebounds for a tournament in 1985. Scored 44 points in a game in 1985. Played at the University of Minnesota.
  • Randy Smithson – Normal Community
    All-tournament team in 1975. Played and coached at Wichita State University.
  • Jeremy Stanton – Normal U-High
    Holds record for most assists in a game (18). Played basketball and soccer for University of Evansville.
  • Byron Thierry – Galesburg
    Three-time all-tournament member from 1981-83. MVP of tournament in 1981 as sophomore.
  • T.J. Timmons – Lewistown
    Led tournament in scoring in 1995 with 26.7/ppg. Scored 35 points in one game in 1995.
  • Joe Tulley – Rockford Boylan
    Led tournament in scoring in 1998 (22.0/ppg), holds record for Best Free Throw % in a Game (100%, 14 for 14), Attended DePaul University.
  • Chuck Verderber – Lincoln
    Led tournament in scoring in 1977 with 28.6/ppg. MVP of tournament in 1977.
  • Tyler Ryan – Rock Island Alleman
    Holds record for most three-point field goals in game (9) and tournament (17) in 1999. Two-time all-tournament team member from 1999-2000.
  • Kelly Whitney – Chicago Marshall
    Two-time all-tournament team member from 1999-2000. Plays for Seton Hall University.
